Day 1-How it all started.

Are you one of those people who really really have to be sick before you call in sick to work? I am! That's kind of what happened, I wasn't feeling well and it was your usual cough, sneeze, headache and fever symptoms. I paid a visit to my primary physician who asked, how do you feel and what's going on. Didn't draw any blood tests, listen to what I had to say and claimed I had a Sinus Infection. Prescribed an antibiotic and sent me on my way. A few days, a week go by and I'm not getting any better, I'm actually getting worse. Now, I'm finding it hard to keep anything down and I'm dehydrated. I need fluids! I make a call to the doctor's office and the doctor claims the antibiotic was really strong and changes it but does not have time to see me.
When I awake the next day, I decide I must go to the emergency room because this just isn't right but all along assuming they will give me iv fluids and send me home. 10 hours later, after going through test after test, a doctor approaches and matter of factly blurts out my new diagnosis.
The words I heard, You don't have a sinus infection you have cancer!
Now, I am not one to just say ok. Of course, I argued with the fine doctor and insisted I only had said sinus infection. Once, he explained the evidence, I obviously lost the argument. One argument you don't want to lose. Before I knew it, I was in an ambulence being transported to one of the most experienced hospitals in our state. A lot of that night is a blurr, oh I was concious and carrying on conversations with the staff as they did everything they can for the first 48 hours to get me stable and strong enough for my first round of chemo. It was a very eventful first weekend so I'm collecting my thoughts and will post more soon.
